About me
The basics. I’m a British woman, in my late 20s. Working a customer service job in education, recovering from a serious depressive episode, and learning to interact with the monsters in my head.
I’m a word person. I love to read, write, invent, combine, and play with words. I have a long-standing and deep relationship with the words and characters that live in my mind. Sometimes I write about them (notes, stories, ramblings). More often, I think about them. They are a huge part of my life, and even when I’m not telling stories to other people, I’m telling them to myself.
I’m a fangirl. I’m always in love with something. My favourite interactions are often with other fans – though not necessarily of all the same things. I love to have things to enthuse about, obsess over, adore. Those things are a central part of my life. My fannish obsessions often have a lot to do with men falling in love with each other: that’s just part of who I am.
I’m queer, and a feminist. Neither “straight”, “lesbian” nor “bisexual” really describes my orientation, so “queer” will have to do. “Feminist” describes me pretty well, though: I’m passionate about equal rights across the board with a specific interest in women’s issues, and of course queer issues are close to my heart, too.
I’m a geek. I love games, computers, and quite a lot of other traditionally boy-type stuff. So sue me! I love being geeky about science fiction, about the internet, about language. About almost any kind of game. I love my fun, and my fun is of a geeky nature.
I’m growing. That sounds a strange thing to say as an adult woman, but it’s true. I’m slowly starting to learn about myself, really learn, and it fascinates me.
I’m me. These facts are unlikely to change. I really hope we’ll get along; but if we don’t, no harm, no foul. Happy reading!
